Step 4 of 5 – Hip & Leg Support Tests
Assess how well your muscles coordinate to support balance and single-leg stability.
Single-leg support is important during walking, climbing stairs, and many everyday movements.
Because balance is involved, stand near a stable support such as a chair, wall, or countertop during this test.
Standing on One Leg Self-Test Technique
- Stand with feet hip width apart.
- You will be lifting one leg 6 to 12 inches off the ground, not too high.
- Make sure you’re maintaining your directional preference starting position throughout the test.
- Use a support for balance if needed.
