Before signing up for the Basic or Intermediate Low Back Exercise series of classes, take some time to determine which level is right level for you. We recommend 3 ways of determining if you are ready to exercise and where you should begin. You may find you only need one of these recommended ways or you can use all 3 for more confidence.

Choice 1:
Ask your back therapist to help you determine which level to select.

To assist in this discussion, we recommend you share the link to the beginner and intermediate program free previews located at the bottom of that page, where there is an overview of the types of exercises which are included in the classes.

Choice 2:
Try the beginner/basic level free preview exercise class or the Intermediate level free preview class.

See if it's too hard or too easy for you.

Choice 3:
Fill in the Oswestry Disability Index.

This standardized questionnaire can help you to determine what level of activity may be right for you. Remember to keep track of your score to compare to the recommendations in next steps and to monitor your progress as you continue on with the program.
